How do I stop cats/foxes pooing on my grass and flowerbeds?

Just that really, any tips? I have two very young children and keep finding some kind of animal poo in the garden. Really don't want them to pick it up but I never know where it will appear next.

Thanks.

Keep your grass very short and your borders filled with plants. This will help.

what is fox poo like? we have a green sludgy poo that keeps appearing and it ain't nice!

Sounds like fox poo liberty. I used leave a bowl of water for the cats at the back door but kept finding lots of little poos everywhere turns out we have a resident hedgehog who has no issue shitting where he eats (or drinks in this case)

Thanks rhubarb. We do need to mow the lawn but the beds are quite bare and it might be a while before we can get around to filling it. I was thinking of putting down that matting stuff with bark on top to at least deal with the weeds....would that attract even more cats?

God yes. They love mulch, whether it's bark, composted manure or whatever. My own cats positively rub their paws together with glee when they see me mulching.

Ground cover plants are what you need, ASAP.

And in the meantime put down twigs of holly where the cats poo, or prickly berberis.
