Am I too late to plant my veggie seeds?

I have a number of seeds left over from last year:

  • cucumber, tomatoes, green beans, beetroot...

last year, I completely flopped. I planted my wee plants out too early, and they mainly died of frost. So I've held out this year, and to be honest, have kind of forgotten about them. If I plant them in the seed trays now, and put them in my mini greenhouse thingy, would I have missed the boat?

I am bit of a veggie novice, but have a manger planter, and some tubs that want to have veggies in. Just would like to have some results!

I'd do it anyway. But possibly avoid the mini greenhouse for anything you don't want to leave there all summer: I've fried seedlings that way. Just stick them in pots or the soil and water them shere you want them to grow.

Disclaimer: I live in southern England. You may wish to use the greenhouse if you're somewhere cooler.

Depends where you live. I live at altitude in Scotland and wouldn't dare put any seeds out until mid May. No chance of tomatoes or cucumbers growing outside up here.

No they'll be fine. I don't plan to do mine until the end of next week, as there'll be no-one here to water them.

IME the late sowing more or less catch up with the earlier sowings by the time you're ready to harvest anyway. Planting late means you avoid frost and also avoid plants getting leggy or scorched in the greenhouse/on the window sill while they wait for the last frost to pass.

South, not North, so will plant them straight into their respective planters at the end of this week and keep my fingers crossed! Thanks!

I'm in the south and don't start my veg off until April generally. Agree they catch up and I've seen too many plants on our allotments decimated by late frosts in May before to be in a hurry to get things in.
