I have a new 300ltr compost bin, lots of paper...

& a green bin 1/3 full of moss, grass & thatch.

My plan is to scrunch up all the paper, cut up all the cardboard & layer it with the greenery, and then mix it all together with a broom handle.

Discuss/point out flaws in my plan!.

I'll have lawn clippings tomorrow to add to it.

This is what I do:

Shred the paper first - much easier to mix in and break down.
As I layer everything, I sprinkle a little soil in between the layers.
I find a garden fork much easier to turn everything rather(approx once a month)than use a broom handle.
Finally I occasionally add some water to it, then cover the whole lot with a piece of old carpet (but you will have a lid with your bin?). This will keep it warm and help it to 'cook'.

Not sure about adding cardboard, as mines always gone into the recycling bin.

I have a lidded one yes. My instructions said cardboard could be used.

Well that's fine if cardboard can be used . I think I'd just break it up into as smaller pieces as possible then.

It will shrink down as it composts. Shredded paper mixed with grass cutting makes wonderful compost and quite quickly too.
