Right i need as much advice as possible RE landscaping

My Garden is a jungle & completely unmanageable as its in need of a complete over hall , I just don't know where to start .
Its about 35ft by 20ft & extremely boggy as the previous tenant had a make shift pond which has left a 2ft hole at the end of my garden .

I'm wanting it mainly paved with about 10ft of grass at the bottom as my Ds is allergic to grass.

I'm not wanting to spend ridiculous amounts of money as its a rented property - Is this to much for one complete novice to do by myself ?

If I have to get a Landscaping company in what price am I looking at ?

The paving might be tough to do yourself. It's not overly complicated but it takes a while to get it completely level if you've not had loads of practice.

If you're not fussed about it all being the same then you could try getting some slabs off Freecycle. I've got a patchwork patio with planting pockets in and it looks really nice, and it keeps costs down.

If your DS is allergic to grass, how about having a lawn made of a different plant? There are lots of low-growing plants that can be made into a lawn- chamomile, clover, corsican mint are a few. They're not quite as tough as grass but you can still walk and sit on them. If you want an area for him to play, what do you think of woodchip?

If it is rented why is the landlord not doing anything about it? If it is boggy, grass will be a real problem. Anything you put directly onto the ground will probably sink into it. Your main option is a bog garden! Sorting this out with hard paving will cost you a packet, thousands, so do not do it. Speak to the landlord or move!

Moving isn't an option .

I have been trying to get my landlord to sort it for 3 years now & I can't go another summer without having to use my garden .

I'd love wood chip but I'm also sure all the local cats would as well unfortunately , love the idea of a different plant instead of grass & will look at free cycle for paving slabs Thanks
