Is this offer for perennials any good?

I saw this offer in the paper on Saturday:

I don't know much about gardening but this seems like a good offer for £20...? Or is there a catch?

It's worth going for! Now I've seen it, I may go for it too! They'll be little plug plants probably and will probably need a bit of nurturing, but at this time of the year, everything wants to grow.

Just pot them up into individual plant pots for a few months, using a mixture of good compost mixed with the soil from your garden. Let them grow away and then plant them when they are bigger.

So you can't plant them straight into the soil?

No catch. However in my experience the plants are likely to be very small indeed when you get them- barely seedlings and will need potting on in 5 m pots with compost in a sheltered spot and nurturing before they can be planted out in a bed. So if you get them now and pot them on you should be ready to plant them out at easter time.

Yeah you could, but I wouldn't personally. If they're little iddy biddy things they're too easy to stand on/get eaten/accidentally dug up etc.
It'll only take a few months for them to grow to a reasonable size in a pot.
I've actually just ordered a collection for myself! (Ta for the heads up!!). I'm going to put them into some crappy pots I've got knocking around and see what happens. If only half of them make it, then I reckon it's still a bloody good deal and if all of them make it then god knows where I'm gonna put them all!!

Its not bad value actually because if you bought 12 seed packets it would probably cost just as much and you would have to sow indoors or in a greenhouse at this time of year.
