something to climb over / along low wall...

I have a low wall in front of my house, approximately 1 metre high. It stretches the width of the house, with a gap on the middle to get to the door. Also quite close to the house, less than 2m (space only for a path and a narrow bed between the house and the wall).

I'd like to plant something in the bed behind the wall, to hopefully grow it, along the wall and tumble prettily over the other side.

What can I use? It's quite a windy spot, so can't be too delicate!

Clematis. Lots of varieties.

Will that go along and over? I've only ever seen them trained up high walls / fences. Sorry, bit of a novice....

I've got a clematis montana growing up and over a fence.

How much sun does your wall get on either side?

Not much sun the side it would be planted in, almost total shade really, but full sun (although v windy) the other side.

Not a lot of people know this, but honeysuckle grows best if its roots are in shade but it can grow towards sunlight. There are some lovely varieties too, and I think it's so nice when you open the door and get a waft of scent (or visitors are greeted by the smell). You'd have to provide some kind of framework for it to climb up/along though. And mine does seem to shed a lot of leaves. Worth it for the smell I think.

Thank you! Will look at clematis and honeysuckle at the garden centre later.
