Getting cuttings to root

MoonlightandRoses · 05/06/2013 22:12

Could anyone advise on the best way to get cuttings from the following to root please?

Tree peony
'Standard' peony
Fig

We're hoping to move house soon and as we can't bring the full plants, would like to bring a permanent 'reminder' of them.

Thank you.

I'd dig up and pot up the peony or a big slice of it with me. The tree peonies I believe are mostly grafted so if you did get a cutting to root it might not be that heathy. The fig - instructions here sounds surprisingly easy.

Sorry just saw this

Dust the cut off end with rhizomatous fungi and put into potting compost. Carol K puts about six cuttings round the edge of the pot. Label.

Agree about digging up a bit of the plant which has already rooted though.
