Would an all white and red garden look bonkers or be 'unlucky'

I know for wreaths they don't put red and white together as it reminds people of blood?

But when I move I want a contrasting garden. My allotment has loads of colour so I want my home garden to be different.

I currently can't stop buying plants so have a (pretty) mish mash.

I would go for all white but I'm obsessed with roses so I know that I will want to plant a dozen roses and I really like a lot of the deep pink/red roses.

What other contrasts would work?

Having gone for all blue, white and silver, I think it could be rather nice!
Dusky pinks, and whites could look lovely.
Or, white roses, and a different colour for the other plants?
Personally, I don't fancy yellows and white. What about red and yellow?

Have fun planning - Crocus have some suggestions - thats where i got the blue and silver from. Might be worth a nosy for combinations as well as full boarders that tey sell as a package for inspiration.

My mum had red and white roses in her wedding bouquet - she was from Sheffield and dad was from Blackpool so it was a union of York and Lancaster. They were v much in love until the day she died (dad still is in love with her, 13 years on.)

Doesn't have to be unlucky.

People will assume you're a Liverpool* supporter
(*or insert name of local team playing in red & white)

I'm not sure red/white alone will work. Perhaps make it regal Grin with some purple if not flowers then foliage eg acer, dark hellebores. Blues & white as next has done can be very calming.

Years ago... when I planned my wedding... I read red&white bouquet was meant to be unlucky as it signified 'blood & bandages'. Pack in plenty of green/pinks & avoid the oldwives?
