So then, I've just been offered an allotment plot. It looks like it will be one that needs 'regenerating' so initially I plan to cultivate a small area and crack on with the hard work for the rest of it during the autumn and winter. Not sure what the soil's like but if it's similar to the rest of the area then it'll be very sandy loam.
I have a tiny bit of space for a propagator in my kitchen so can get a few bits and bobs going now, but I'm too late for a lot of things, which is a shame (unless I buy in plug plants). So I'm thinking of a few faster crops such as lettuce and other salad leaves, beetroot, a few annual herbs.
So hit me up with anything else I can grow as a catch crop. I have Joy Larkcom's Grow Your Own Veg book so will be perusing that later.
