How would you deal with this garden?

My grass has got very overgrown, there are photos in my profile (the mess on the trampoline is a pile of brambles from last year that I meant to make a bonfire of but chickened out), and my old strimmer and lawnmower are knackered!

I'm thinking of buying a new strimmer to get it down to a manageable level, can anyone recommend a decent model? I don't think a mower would get through it well, not my old one at least and I don't want to give a new one a baptism of fire!

Any advice or thoughts appreciated!

Can't see your profile, let alone photos, sorry! B&Q have a strimmer & mower for £69 atm, we have the same set, does the job.

Firstly I'd have an evening bonfire this weekend. Get rid of the garden rubbish.

Then tackle the grass, mine got that bad but my dad has a petrol mower which he tackled it with and we've kept it short since. If you don't know anyone with a petrol mower, maybe pay for a lawn mowing service until its back under control.

Its just a matter of cutting it every week. Dull slog, but gets you a nice a space.

Yes agree with bonfire this weekend, or a tip run if you don't want bonfire. You're going to need new mower/strimmer, so go out & get one asap, they need trimming loads this time of year!

Then you can see it as a clear space, and start adding other bits if you like.

Is it possible to have a safe bonfire in an overgrown garden? I wouldn't know where to start! We have brambles in the grass. I read somewhere that roots can carry fire under ground!

It doesn't look that bad. Just clear a large circle away from fences and house and start from there.

Us it possible to move/take down the trampoline? Underneath shouldn't be as bad to get down to the ground.
