Recommendations for hand-powered mower?

Just that really, have seen a few on line and some look quite good. My lawns are small and I really think I'd be more likely to mow them with a hand mower than with my previous electric one. I do have a nice electric strimmer :)

Have you looked at a Qualcast Panther? I bought one last year as the fancy electric model my late husband used was too heavy for me to get up and down garden steps. It's quite basic but lightweight, which is ideal for me, and ideal for small lawns.

I have this www.husqvarna.com/uk/products/lawn-mowers/64/ and love it

Thanks both, I have consulted my consultant now (DD' fella) who I actually might have persuaded to share the mowing, and he is wondering about a petrol strimmer now, instead. I'll get there. Eventually...

the lovely thing with the push mower is that when you stop walking the blades stop
so it is safe for older kids to use
and can be used in the rain

I second the Qualcast Panther. We've had it for a whole year and it works very well on our small garden and a rather uneven lawn.

Talkinpeace you're not wrong there :) Am old gimmer from the Ancient Days Before Powered Motors Were Common, and mowing the lawn with our hand mower was one of my chores.

AM I had been worrying about it coping on uneven lawn.

Must make a decision and act on it! Will consult consultant again

I too have a Qualcast Panther, and my DH has a great big noisy petrol mower that needs two people to lift out of the shed and then needs regular servicing.

You have to mow more regularly with the Panther, in my experience, as it doesn't deal with long grass easily, but for a small lawn done easily and quietly in the evening, it's very stress free.

Well, I got the Qualcast Panther, and DD's bloke put the handle on for me :) What a beautiful piece of engineering those blades are. It's coped fine with 3 weeks' lawn growith, including clover, and I imagine the next cuts will be a doddle.

Thanks to all Thanks
