Pruning a fig tree

I'd welcome some advice on pruning a fig tree. It was about a metre tall when I bought it last year, and is now about two metres. I brought it into the garage to overwinter, but there seems to have been too much light for it to go dormant and I brought it into the house when leaves appeared.

All the energy appears to have gone into growing up- the (short) branches are bunched at the top of the tree.

Should I nip out the main, middle shoot and train the side branches against the brick wall, or is there something else I should be doing?

Thank you for that! I hope it's not too late to espalier it - the pics show the side branches coming off from lower down the trunk.

We were left a fig tree we thought was dead and had no idea what it was. I have pruned it back hard (ie looks dead) as it was so 'leggy' it now Is beginning to look like a bushy tree rather than a group of sticks. We get one or two figs every year but I realise I will have to wait until
It rematures. We live in se and never take it in, in quite a sunny spot. I only hacked it back about 3 weeks ago and the recent nice weather has already brought shoots.

Just seen this - thank you. Interesting that such radical pruning doesn't kill the plant, and that you can leave it outside year-round.
