How do I get rid of mice in my garden?

Is there something I can use that won't harm other wildlife?

I think they're nesting under my waterfall! It's leaking, I think they've chewed through the hose, and they're starting to munch all the plants in that area. Help!

Well, we have rats in our garden (next door to allotments where people love to compost things). I called out the council last week, and they put a rat box down in between our garage and the wall separating us from next door. On Saturday dds discovered a dead mouse outside the garage. Only H insisted it was a baby rat, because it had a long tail. I ask you.

Sorry for the rant - does your local council treat rodents free of charge, was what I meant to say.

Get a cat Grin

Thanks for your replies. Don't want a cat! Next door's cat died recently, I guess this all adds up, doesn't it?

Off to B & Q to see what I can buy. Any more suggestions welcome. I might try asking the council if I can't find anything.

anorak, I'm sure you'll find local council will 'do' rodents free. And also sure it won't harm other wildlife, unlike anything you might get from B&Q.

You can get humane traps. There like long plastic boxes.

My dad had a problem with them in their garden and he bought one of these and he had read that Mice love Rolos! So in went the Rolo and some water. The next morning he caught one and set it free in a big field a few miles away Grin

YF, we used one when I was a student. Boyfriend at the time let it go at his part time place of work, because the mouse looked so sweetGrin - it wasn't a food place. But it does sound like anorak's got more than one little friend, and that's when it becomes a problem.

You can get a plug in deterrent that makes a noise mice/rats etc can't stand. Doesn't effect other pets unless you have a pet hamster or something.
