How can I prevent neighbours cat pooing on our drive?

We have a gravel drive. This wretched creature obviously thinks it's a litter tray.

Yesterday my husband trod in the cat poo, trod it into my car and carried it into the childminder's house before returning home and spreading it up out hallway.

Both houses had to be disinfected and I was very late for work

It's not like I want to kill the cat........

Any ideas?

Actually, the best solution - buy a cat (tom)yourself. They are very territorial, and wont shit on their own doorstep.

Problem solved. Grin

spray the drive/water the drive with that really strong disinfectant. or pepper

bunny3 · 11/04/2006 22:40

hate cats though. If we had one would we actually have to do anything with it or could it live outsude and jsut be fed from a distance? (Ds and dh have severe allergies to cats)

Bio Cat-a-Pult Animal Repellent.
Protects your garden against damage from Cats, Dogs, Birds, Rabbits & other animals.

Stays effective for several weeks.
It works by confusing the animal's senses of taste and smell.

It says u can use on driveways and stuff. You will need to reapply if it rains a lot obviously.
You will have to hose the drive where the poo has been first.

dont get rat poison, i like cats too! besides they wont eat it!
bunny3 · 11/04/2006 22:40

that was in response to VVV

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/04/2006 22:43

LOL - no, dont get one then!

And rat poison would be UTTERLY USELESS. Its designed to be attractive to rodents. That aside, they would have to eat at least their own body weights worth of it to have an effect. Hardly likely unless you swap ALL the gravel on your drive to rat poison.......

mogwai · 11/04/2006 22:44

thanks for the replies, I'll try the lemon peel and the stuff that Shaysmummy recommends.

Oh and of course we need that thread. I'll stick it on chat now.....

Old tea bags with eucalyptus oil on them, scattered where it likes to go best. Alternatively you can buy lion dung which tends to ward off evil felines!

Mytwopenceworth · 12/04/2006 07:40

because i like you, even though you are a mean old cat-hater Wink, \link{http://www.deteracat.co.uk/\here.} Take a look at this.

mogwai · 12/04/2006 16:58

Pesky rotten cat lovers

hmmm, a small one. but you may have to apologise with prawns afterwards! (i refer you to the curry + lager + letterbox!) Grin

JennyWren · 12/04/2006 17:38

Spray the gravel with a solution of water and bleach. Cats hate the smell of bleach. You'll have to do it regularly and after every time it rains, but with luck over time that pesky cat will find another favourite litter tray to use!

Mytwopenceworth · 12/04/2006 17:47

my cats love bleach, sends them do-lally! - like they are drunk! rolling over onto bellies, super affectionate, i swear if they could talk they would be saying "oi mate, i feckin luv you, y'know, nah, nah i do, yer, like, me bessie mate, come 'ere and giza snog"

JennyWren · 12/04/2006 18:08

So much for that then Envy

suedonim · 12/04/2006 19:57

No, no don't use bleach! Cats dislike the smell and will try to disguise the pong by depositing even more pee/poo in the area. I'd try Lion Dung or the ultrasonic devices before resorting to anything more drastic.

I know this is an old thread.. though wanted to add a comment as I came across it.. totally understand it's annoying if.. well if any animal poos on your property.. though they're just animals doing their thing. I had a really gorgeous tabby cat who was posionned by a neighbour - who put rat poison in cat food and left it out - like this thread recommends - and he bled from his mouth and died.. absolutely hideous. it is criminal and cruel to intentionally poison innocent animals.

HoleyCoMoley · 26/09/2018 16:22

Like pp says do not use rat poison, it causes internal bleeding and a slow painful death, even if a cat, fox or anything else poops in the garden it's a living creature and probably a much loved pet. We have cats pooping on our gravel, we just pick it up and bag it.

Trethew · 26/09/2018 16:32

Why don’t you just flick the poo over to their side with a spade

stripeswitheverything · 26/09/2018 18:13

Some truly appalling comments on this thread. Cruelty to animals is never justified, and the remarks about it on here is pretty sickening.
