Every book i have read this summer mentions a Lilac tree! There is always someone relaxing beneath the lilac tree reading a book or sipping an ice cold drink....and now i want one!!!!

Havent a clue what one looks like really?? Anyone got one and can tell me what to expect please?

We have a few of them but they look best when grown intertwined with something else, as they aren't so great when not flowering.
Our best one is on the front driveway and you gets cloud of scent as you walk past it when in bloom. It's currently about 10ft high and has a spread of about 14/15ft so be aware they can get quite big.

This one also gets my vote - fresh green leaves, attractive small white flowers followed by red berries which the blackbirds just l o v e . . .

We had a massive lilac hedge lining the drive when growing up, a sight to behold! The scent was heavenly!
Some years ago they started dying off, possibly old age, so sad
Love lilacs, it wouldn't be Spring without them, have few dotted around the garden. We always brought armful of them in the house, vases full, no superstition ever heard about them.

I’ve a beautiful lilac tree in my front garden. I’ve lived here for 16 years and the tree was here then but not as big. It must be nearly 15 feet now and it needs pruning as it grows like mad. The smell is gorgeous but it only blooms for about 3 weeks sadly

I wish I had one in my yard, I'm jealous of those who do!
