I have just picked one up urghh! And have washed my hands 4 times to get rid of the slime. Only dry wiping worked and I'm still not sure
They are aliens. Anyone know the science?

DD and I have worked it out. We are going to make teeny weeny, carefully-calibrated landmines which contain just enough explosive to blow up and instantly kill slugs but leave all other creatures unharmed.

So glad you started this thread, Minimammouth as I've asked myself the same question - and also whether if slugs are more or less shell-less snails, whether they couldn't be cooked up with a bit of garlic butter? that said, I think the slugs around this year are just too big for that - I'm thinking more slug steak, wondering how they might be with a bit of blue cheese or pepper sauce.
Also wondering if they could be farmed and sold as food for exotic pets of some sort? (Or dried out, used as draft (drught?? sp?? Confused) excluders?

E-ew, no slug carpaccio, then, no rare sluggy steaks.
Slug stroganoff? Slug wellington? Slug and kidney pie?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/08/2012 23:52

Yikes.

Shinyshoes1 · 22/08/2012 00:01

I thought they were made of meat

EcoLady · 22/08/2012 00:07

Grin at the idea of Slug Wellington! Individual ones, like little sausage rolls...!

LastMangoInParis · 22/08/2012 00:18

Slug in the hole?
Slug & mash?
Slug & Lettuce?

Ew I've gone right off 'em now. I do like your idea Maud. The little land mines. Yes, yes, could film it too. Project it onto the veg patch at night to deter them. They might rebel though. And turn up wearing little balaclavas.
Pets.....hmmm. Are they trainable though?
