Tell us more - location of garden/pot, sunny/shady, what colour/style of garden you like ....

bloodyfamilies · 18/06/2012 09:49

well as the plants will be in pots i can put them anywhere, so i hadnt really thought about location. the whole garden gets the sun at various points in the day. i just want something pretty and easy tbh.

How about planting some Lily bulbs?
Come up year after year without much input from you and smell devine.

Nemesia is my new fave plant. Comes in variety of colours - all shades of pinks from pale to coral via more purpley. I have it in beds and in pots and it flowers for months. It only grows to about 12" but spreads so is good for troughs and boxes.

I also like nemesia.I have the tall pale pink variety in china blue large pots and they look lovely and are fragrant.Perennial violas are beautiful and scented as well.I have pots with purple clematis Diamontina coupled with yellow [and violet edged] violas [earlier thay had blue Iris growing through and providing some support].I also have a pot with morning glory and sweet peas growing up an obelisk[but these are not perennial].

Blueberry "top hat" is self fertile, pretty white bell-shaped flowers in spring, fruit in summer, leaves go yellow and red in autumn, architectural stems in winter. It needs ericaceous compost though.

I second lilies, also agapanthus are very easy. I like fuschias too - lots of different varieties both bush and trailing with lots of different colour options.
