Ideas for a small memorial tree in a pot

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small tree (or perhaps a shrub) that will be happy to remain in a pot and not grow to more than, say, 1m tall? This is because it needs to remain portable so it can be moved if necessary. Sunny, shady and part sun part shade positions are all available.

Am in the south of England where there's normally get reasonable sun in the summer. Would prefer something that doesn't need to be fleeced up in winter.

Already have an acer and an olive in pots.

It's to remember a pregnancy loss so something with attractive foliage and/or flowers would be lovely.

All ideas appreciated.

how about a camellia. These will grow in pots with some ericaceous compost.
You can get some really pretty colours from bright reds, pale pinks and even white and all have a lovey scent. Lovely deep green shiney leaves as well.

Easy to look after but do need watering well in dry weather but just mulch around the roots in winter.

So sorry for your loss Sad

A magnolia would be lovely - the Magnolia Stellata is really beautiful in early spring. It is very slow growing but does get to a reasonable size eventually so may have to be repotted accordingly. A dwarf fruit tree could be another option for a pot?

Lovely ideas - thank you both. There's a really big nursery not far away so I shall go and have a look.
