Tomatoes and chillis. Can I plant them in pots just in case I move?

There is a strong possibility that we will be moving 150 miles away in July. Currently I have a load of tiny little tom and chilli plants on the kitchen windowsill.
Once they get bigger, I'd like to plant them out obviously. I don't want to leave them behind if we move though.
Would it be feasible to plant them in pots or am I being daft?

Yes they are fine in pots

They'll be fine in pots - although the tomatoes may be a bit big and unwieldy to move by July - what type are they?

They are Roma - which is apparently a plum type. I'll give it a go once they get a bit bigger.

I do potatoes, peas, carrots, onions, strawberries and raspberries in pots. This year I'm attempting aubergines, bell peppers and a plum tree. They grow fine - in pure compost - but make sure your tomatoes are well supported if you need to move them :)

Interesting about the raspberries. My SiL gave me six sticks in a pot. i haven't got them into the ground yet.
What size pot would you recommend and should I plant them individually or in groups of two or three?

I've got one each in 8" pots and three in an old recycling box...

OK, it's off to the pot and compost shop for me Grin
I might try to get some work done this weekend, it's raining monsooningly here so the ground will be softer at least.

My poundstretcher has good sized pots - I got 2 14" for about £3.50 a couple of weeks ago, as well as my giant twig £6 plum tree Grin

No more fruit trees for us. We started out with four apple trees, three were diseased and ugly so they've gone.
We are down to one which has lovely pink blossom on at the moment.

This one is a bit of an experiment on a first floor balcony. The results remain to be seen...
