help with prioritising

Hello I would be grateful for any advice!

After years of DIY we have finally made it to the garden and after years of only growing potatoes and courgettes (with reasonable success) this year we are branching out a bit more. But the greenhouse is bursting at the seams and I wondered if I should be brave and plant some stuff out into the prepared veg plot.

The peas and salad leaves are fairly established in the greenhouse and I have some homemade cloches (plastic bottles!) at the ready but overnight the temps are still quite low - the bird bath is frozen over this am.

Should I relax and go for it or hang fire til the weather picks up? We are in the east with a garden that gets sunshine all day.

Thanks

I put my peas out a couple of weeks ago and we've had a frost since then but they were fine - I am waging war against the slugs though.

I'm keeping my salad leaves in for now, but I imagine if you cloche them they stand a good chance of surviving.

I know what you mean about prioritising, my greenhouse and potting shed are full, I've also taken over one conservatory and all the windowsills are starting to become covered in plants.
My problem is, after I have nurtured them from seed I am ridiculously loathe to plant them out just in case...

I know the feeling! I usually have a mixture of success growing from seed so the ones that do make it are miraculous!

I might be brave and plant out the carrots and peas but keep the salad bits in the greenhouse. The pumpkins are still looking a bit feeble so will wait on those too.

I'd take a risk with the peas and leaves if you're desperate for the space. Many lettuce varieties don't mind a bit of cold and indeed, don't thrive with too much warmth. Try hardening them off each day for a week or so. I've got pea and lettuces that have germinated in unprotected beds from sowings two weeks ago, and I'm further North than you.

I'd def leave any tender things, squash, etc. inside, for another couple of weeks at least.

My most precious-ist things are my sweetcorn and aubergines... they get moved about four times a day at the moment, to wherever I think they'll be happiest...
