I have lots of books but only one I go back to regularly which is Anna Pavord's Border Book.

I love the way it suggests plants that will go well together and plants that will survive in certain. Onditions. It also helps with difficult situations such as a gloomy wall or a half foot wide bed that is a silly sized space.

What's yours? I like reading about gardens almost as much as actually doing it. Or actually maybe more!

The Weekend Gardener by Monty Don. So organised and just right!

Anna Pavord's book on planting combinations.

It's a really ordinary looking book my mum got at a car boot sale, called Garden Planner.

I think that the internet - and especially the wondrous RHS website - have made the 'how to' gardening books obsolete, but I still love books like Anna Pavord's with gorgeous photographs of the plants.

Oh, Gertrude - I'm feeling a little guilty, because I thought you were a longstanding poster on the gardening threads who had name-changed and so I teased you last night about misspelling your own name. Now (I think) I realise you're not and so it feels a bit mean to have teased you. Thanks

I really did google it as well! BUT - am relieved that I only did the two posts with the wrong spelling - would have been mortified if hadn't noticed for ages. Not sure this name suits me though - clearly could seem self aggrandising, so may name change again!
