Agapanthus planting - numpty question

My daughter bought me two pots of agapanthus. I have never grown them before, but understand they need to be slightly pot bound in order to flower well.

My main question is that they are two pots, but there are three shoots coming up in each pot. The shoots are fairly close to each other and in the same area of each pot - so does that mean they are the shoots of one bulb or are there several bulbs in there?

I am trying to decide where to plant them, which depends on whether I have six plants or just the two.

Thank you

I would think there is only one bulb in each pot if the shoots are close together, but you could lift the plant out of the pot and have a bit of a dig around to see what's in there.

Probably just the one, and it's not a bulb by the way so don't be surprised if you can't find one when you tip the plant out.

The Potbound thing is a bit of a myth - they are greedy and most importantly need full sun.

Well, I did that and upended the pot to investigate. And as purple said I could not see a bulb, it was a mass of roots.
So on the basis that they wouldn't put 2 in one pot for under £5, I decided to put them both in a 30/40cm diameter pot.

Purple, what are they called if not bulbs? I am sure I saw the 'bulb' for sale in a garden centre.

They are called 'crowns'. Which tends to be used for a plant that has a clump of fleshy roots that all come together in a blob that the top bit grows out of. Asparagus and Foxtail Lilies have Crowns too.

Pardon me for being so ignorant!
