Hello, I wonder if somebody can help me identify this plant - see photos on my profile (have just taken them in the twilight). I have googled every single thing I can think about this plant, with no luck identifying it.
It's an evergreen, I think it's a weed as opposed to something domesticated, it has very simple 5 or 6 petalled yellow flowers in spring / early summer. It appeared in the garden two or three years ago and is now springing up in more places. It's got quite a hefty root on it, and I think it has milky sap if you cut it. It grows and flowers very quickly after the seedlings appear.
I'm leaning towards some kind of Evening Primrose (as the flowers are similar) but the leaves are wrong for that. Texture of leaves and the sap make me think of a Euphorbia, but haven't found one with the right flowers ...
Ermm, that's it, I think! Any help greatly appreciated.
