Hi I've hung a bird feeder full of seeds in the tree outside DDs window but not a single bird to be seen :( any ideas/help on attracting some birds.

She's 2 and desperate to see some birdies

Thanks x

it takes them a while to realise its there. instructions i read somewhere said to put a few seeds on top of it to encourage them. is it too near the house? i'd give it a few days and then if there's still no joy move it. i have one they love in a tree, another they rarely visit - i think this is because its less near a tree and cover.

It's over in the corner, away from the house but can be seen from the bedroom window. We're rural, so not cats to worry about. Will put some seeds on top of it and around it to help. Thanks x

I got one of those multi hook feeders about 3 months ago and had no birds for at least a month until they slowly started to realise it was there! I've now got loads of 'regulars' and it's lovely - fat balls are v popular with them at the moment and they've got through 6 in a few weeks Smile

We had a bird come look! Didn't eat anything but we were happy :)

ah well if they have clocked it, they will soon be back...we have queues and fights some mornings :). I think they like different foods in different areas too - never had any success with fat balls but they eat us out of house and home with sunflower seeds. Bird bath can be good too ( i use big plant pot saucer) so you can watch them have a drink and a bath

We had a bird feeder in the garden- hung high up a tree. Lovely little birdies always in and out but ... My dd saw a rat(s) and called in exterminator. He said the bird feeder attracts them- spillage on the ground. So i had to get rid of the bird feeder. Sad

Hi. What seed have you been using? Have a look at the CJ Wildbird Foods website. I have been using their stuff for years, and its good quality. There is lots of advice on the site, I am sure you will soon be inundated, but you do have to change the food you offer depending on the season. Good luck.
