Novice allotment holder, am thinking raised beds?

I started a thread about an allotment we've just got after a long wait. It's a real mess tbh. I realised today how bad it is now that the frost's gone. A lot of hard work will be needed but I'm determined to get there.

I'm thinking of trying to make some raised beds? Has anyone experience of this and of what grows well?

I also fancy making the top end a chamomile lawn or similar?

Hi,
I have three raised beds for veg/fruit and they're great. DH bolted them together with quite thick wood, we also lined with breathable membrane to try and stop the dreaded bindweed from coming up. Filled them with soil bought in from a gardening supply.
I have one dedicated to fruit - so raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb. The other two I rotate. I have grown salad, beans, tomatoes, sweetcorn, leeks, carrots and all have done well.
May seem obvious but if you have them put in, make sure they are not too wide so that you can't reach the middle from at least one side.

Thanks Gargula. I think I'll try to make them, that is possible isn't it? Membrane is a great tip as is sizing.
