Best gardening gloves

I am looking to get myself some heavy duty gardening gloves. I am on maternity leave at the moment and there are some jobs I would like to tackle, but would like very good hand protection. I simply didn't do anything in the garden last time I was pregnant because I was so scared of toxoplasmosis, but was thinking that with really good gloves maybe I could?

Dh gets them from wilkos. They've not got them in yet though. I used plastic gloves as I don't like gardening gloves but mainly did pots etc where cats were less likely to have been

I get all my gardening gloves from here www.centresalesgloves.co.uk/, amazing range, cheap postage (especially if you buy several pairs) and good quality.

Currently using the Showa Thermo 451's as they are great in cold weather. I machine wash mine at 30 degrees and use a bit of Napisan to deal with the germ issue. In warmer weather I switch to Showa 330 Re-grip, again machine washable, get thrown in with my workwear and socks.

I often just wear rubber gloves - ie the yellow marigold kitchen type - when the soil is wet as they are easy to clean after and hands stay dry. If weather is cold i just wear some thin woollen gloves underneath Grin If you are wearing the gloves as primarily protection against toxoplasmosis then this would be your easiest option.
