Can you recommend a houseplant that needs almost no light?

I want to stick a pot plant in a fireplace which is a fair distance from the nearest window... is there anything attractive that would survive in such a place?

a fake one...
if there is a little light, maybe some dark leafed ivy would work (but is poisonous so be careful with children around)

I wonder if a money plant would grow in such a place? Is the room itself dark? As long as there is reasonable ambient light, I think the money plant would be ok. It also thrives on lack of watering.

Thanks for the ideas. It's not an especially dark room, but the fireplace is in the side wall about 8 metres from the window. Liking the idea of mushrooms! Except they would be gobbled by toddler and dog.

Hmm. Might check out some of the fakery in the garden centre.
