Using my guinea pigs as lawn mowers just isn't doing the job any more .

Our lawnmower finally gave up the ghost and as marvellous as it is to be able to put the pigs out on the grass and munch away , it is not really a long term option is it ?

My garden is a mess and I am determined to make a proper go at sorting it out but I need a new mower for not a huge amount of money hopefully but I have no idea what I am looking for .

DH thinks a petrol one is the way forward , then we won't have to worry about extension leads .

Any ideas gratefully received .

more guinea pigs in an easily movable run?

Please don't suggest more guineas , we have got about 8 of the bloody things now .

I want a lawnmower .

What size is the lawn? Do you want stripes? Do you feel the need to collect the grass cuttings? Is the lawn flat or angled? Do you want it self propelled or push?

These are the sort of questions you need to answer to yourself before choosing a grass cutter and what you'd be asked if you go to a garden machinery specialist.

You can get a basic rotary bladed, wheeled, push, four stroke petrol mower with grass collector for not too much money or a mulching one or one with a roller and/or power drive for more.

mountfield princess-great workhorse and has been going for over 12 years.Not too big and has grass collection-always get one with grass collection on.

I initially imagined you holding their back legs and walking them up and down in strips :o

how big is that lawn? my guineas do a grand job. let them roam free and they will reward you with beautifully shorn grass. sadly they do not eat all the weeds
