cats using my garden as a toilet!!!!!!

I am fed up with this. I think it might have got worse since i planted a catmint plant. I am thinking of putting this in a pot away in a corner of the garden to lure the cats there away from my vegetable patch. What do you think?

My mother had a walled garden when I was small. She put an electric fence along the top of the wall to keep out the felines. In the end, one of the cats worked out how to step over it, but it reduced the visits considerably. The fence was not vicious, just uncomfortable to touch.

try filling large plasic bottles (2 litre coke or something similar) halfway with water and leaving them on your lawn... I had the same issue and they work, don't as my why but seems the cats don't like it..

either that or a catapult and/or a large dog :o

We have this problem, being the only cat free house on the street so they all use our garden. I keep the borders as soil free as possible, lots of ground cover plants so they can't see any earth to dig. When I put new plants in I poke or lay thorny twigs, rose and hawthorn hedge clippings, on the bare soil. Also keep everything well watered as they like dry soil to use as a toilet. It's an ongoing battle though. good luck!

This is a frequent topic. I have 2 cats (they poo in my garden too, I leave an area for them to poo in at the end of the garden). I make sure that there is no freshly dug soil available to them around the plants I want to protect, so when I plant anything I cover the ground around it with various objects that will stop them getting any space to do their business. - largish stones, twigs stuck into the ground, barbeque sticks sticking up, large bits of broken plant pots, bricks etc. I leave those objects there until the plants have grown over the space. Cats like to cover their poo so if they can't scratch the ground they are put off IME. Admittedly I have a small veg garden but it has worked for me so far.
