How much would it cost to have a largish conifer chopped down?

People come knocking on the door asking if we want our large annoying conifers chopped down. We had three, but have two now.

I want another one chopped down, but don't know roughly how much it would cost. I can't even remember who chopped the first one down.

How much is reasonable?

It's about 30ft tall.

We had 2 large ones and a couple of little ones removed for £250. Was 4 blokes chopping, moving and shredding 'em so didn't take long. Think a lot of the cost is actually the removal/disposal of the trees.

we do this wind of work. Depends on how much climbing is involved.

It would prob involve two men, no need for anymore.

Truck & trailer, tractor and chipper (depending on if the branches could go on trailer)

Varies - absolute min £250 - £1000 if number of trees. Once the tractor and chipper are on site an additional min £200pd. If you want the stumps treated or removed another additional cost.

4 men at £250 sounds unbeliveablely cheap, one man costs us £100 per day. Chainsaws costs, fuel, truck & trailer, manpower, insurance!! (dont forget to ask to see this!) and profit. Get the job done properly - plenty of cowboys out there.

See sites like Trading standards - trustmark, my builder etc you can see if bonified.

We had the entire side of our garden brought under control, this involved taking out 4 spruces and bringing the conifers down to about 7ft. I'm not sure how many there were. We were charged £150 but we kept all the wood. We are seasoning the wood for use as fire wood and will dipose/burn the rest.

Thinking about a 9m high tree would involve proper climbing and defo with some kind of harness. Carry a heavy chainsaw, fully qualified and insured.

Dont be surprised if you want this completely chopped down you get quotes for £400 plus.

No way would we down it for around £250 for 2 men for something as hard as this a profit of min £100 is expected. Its blinkin hardwork.

Conifers are not always good for firewood though - some work, some dont.
