was in a hurry and didn't read the label properly. We don't have any ponds or any boggy bits in our garden, am I wasting my time planting it in a normal border?

Thanks

I'd pop it in one of those root bags, and line that with polythene to retain the moisture, and then try and keep the compost quite wet, this has worked with my blueberry plant, so it's worth a try with your lovely IrisSmile

Or you could line the planting hole with an old compost sack, but make a couple of holes because you still need some drainage. This might work better in a pot.
