Plant Food (Fruit & Veg)

I need some clarification please!!!!!
Am going to grow salad, veg and strawberries (from plants, not seeds) and am looking into food - am a bit confused as there seems to be foods for fruit and veg, and then foods specifically for tomatoes and strawberries.....so

  • should I use food specifically for tomatoes, some for strawberries and then a general veg one for veg and salads? or is this a gimmick and a general one for fruit & veg can be used for all?
  • any real difference between normal and organic foods?
  • I'm assuming liquid is more convenient, and that you either dilute in water or pour directly on oil, but what about pellets? do you just sprinkle them on?
  • chicken and blood/fish/etc food: does this stink? and does it attract cats/flies????

Thanks!!!

I use Levington's 'Tomorite tomato feed for most of my plants, it works particularly well for strawberries and bedding plants, I can't recommend it highly enoughSmile

Pellets are mixed with the compost when planting up, liquid feed is the most convenient, and a little certainly goes a long way!

Blood, fish and bone is an organic based plant food rich in nitrogen, it's excellent for vegetables. I't doesn't attract cats or flies ...nor the urban foxesGrin

so you would recommend tomorite for tomatoes and strawberries, then the blood/fish/bone for the veg?

only thing is, the latter is powder isn't it? I need something I can start feeding after 6 weeks of planting - does it exist in liquid form?
