Gravel. Kg=m2?

It may look like a clever mathematical formula, but it's really a daft question! Confused

I have an area which was once nicely gravelled, but the weeds have come through and it's a total mess now. It's about 12ft x 12ft. So, if I was to put a load of weedkiller down and gravel over the existing gravel (I should be able to fit another layer on ok, how much gravel would I need to buy?

I've only seen it advertised in terms of weight, rather than coverage.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks very much. :)

When I've bought it a tonne is about a cubic metre. You need about 5cm depth so if your area is about 9 square metres you'll need 0.5 cubic metres or roughly half a tonne. Don't ask me how many kg are in a tonne, is it 1000? If, it is then 500kg. Lots

I guess if you're just topping up you could go for less than 5cm. If you've already got 3cm for instance you'd need to add another 2cm - around 0.2 cubic metres or 200kg.

Don't trust my maths - lots of gravel websites have calculators you can use!
