Wild/meadow area

We moved house last year, so this is the first Spring for us in the new garden. I have a large area of lawn with some newish fruit trees which didn't do much last year. I want to let the grass in that area go a bit wild - put some meadow seed etc, and then plant crocus/daffs/bluebells etc for next year.

Two queries:

  1. do the wild flowers take over the rest of the lawn? Is it easy to keep them contained?
  1. The hedge is mostly beech - will this cause problems with the new plants.

Any suggestions gratefully received:)

As long as you are pretty precise when sowing the seed you should be able to keep it contained quite easily, just mow up to, and around the wild area for a clear definition from your 'grass lawn' once the wild are is established.
Beech hedging shouldn't cause any problems for your new plants, just remember to rake up the spent leaves as and when required.
You could pop some primroses in to the mix too, they'd look lovely in amongst the fruit trees. Have fun! x
