I want a show-stopping single bush to boost kerb appeal

Have about 4X2 m flowerbed at front of house. Tried planting privet though it is growing too slowly so need something quite rampant

Thanks so much - I am going for Ghislaine de feligonde out of all the great suggestions. Just one question - how should I prepare the flower bed in advance? Atm the diehard privet and thorny weeds are pushing through despite having been removed a year ago.
