We've got a garden going to Chelsea.... (maybe)

I'm in our local horticultural society, it's one of London's oldest. It's full of grannies.

I suggested we put forward a small Courtyard Garden for Chelsea... and we've had loads of meetings, and talked about designs and themes etc. etc. etc. for months...

Anyway, I had a pile of meetings last week looking for money, and got the go-ahead from a major sponsor !!!!!!!!!!!!

Our application needs to be in next week, and we'll know in November if we've been accepted. Yikes.

We staged an initial mockup of the design in a car park yesterday, LOL. Looks good.

Move over, Mr. Titchmarsh, Mr. hub2dee needs the microphone.

Thread Resurrection !

OK, it's in the local paper, so I thought it only correct to update the world of MN, LOL...

The Chelsea Garden Panel want our entry in the show. Yay ! But they don't have enough space. Boo ! But We are on a short list. Yay ! But they won't tell us when we'll know either way. Boo !

Soooo.... basically, if another accepted entry fails to find sponsorship (which we've sorted ), and if we tweak a few details of our planting list / design / brief to address some of the Panel's comments, we should be going... but as yet, it's uncertain.

I said I would spill the theme etc. too when we'd heard back from the Panel. The garden is called 'For The Love of Honey' and uses bee and honey imagery and related planting. The major sponsor is Rowse Honey, the UK's largest honey distributor.

The article (playing on Jonathan Ross' involvement) is here . Mr. Ross lives in the area (and is President of the Hort Soc) and we hope he'll be able to help us out on the preview / press day to raise the profile of our garden.

If we get in, do say hi to me if you see me on the stand ! It's an amazing show to visit - the show gardens look stunning, as if they've been there forever ! Ours will be in the small gardens area and is only tiddly, but it'll still be a hell of a lot of work to make it happen. Fingers crossed, eh !!!!

This is so exciting! I went to Chelsea last year for the first time and had a fabulous time. Am definitely going again so fingers crossed your stand gets the go ahead. I love the honey theme by the way. Very original.
By the way I loved Chelsea being child free. It'll be a shame though that your dd won't get to see the result of all your hard work.

Might try and dress her up in a bee suit and smuggle her in for press day photos !!!!

According to my Homes and Gardens diary the CFS is the 23rd-27th May.

The bee suit idea would be so adorable. Make her an 'installation'.

Frustrating though to be so near, but not yet know...

really hope it works out.

hub2dee - how old is your dd? They have some very cute baby bee fancy dress outfits in woolworths at the moment...
