Mushrooms in flower bed - do I need a fungicide?

We just moved into a new house and I want to plant some daffodil and tulip bulbs now so that I'll have some flowers in the Spring. While weeding the bed I'm going to plant, I noticed that the soil looks a bit chalky / grey and there are some mushrooms growing over on the side of the bed that is next to a small pond. Presumably the pond is leaking or something and that is what has caused the mushrooms to grow on that side.

Unfortunately it'll take us a while to drain the pond and clear it out so in the meantime I'd like to get on with planting my bulbs. I have weeded the bed now and dug up all the mushrooms but the soil still smells quite mushroomy and I'm worried if I plant bulbs in it, they might be damaged. Does anyone know if I'll need to put a fungicide on the soil to get rid of the mushroom spores or even wait until the pond is cleared out before planting? Or will the bulbs do OK regardless?

Thanks for any advice!

Many mushrooms are symbiotic. I leave them in my garden.

I doubt they'll do any harm. This year has been a bumper one for mushrooms apparently so you probably won't even get them next year.

Mushrooms are one of nature's recyclers. They break things (like dead wood, leaves, etc.) down and recycle the nutrients back into the soil. I would just leave them alone. They won't harm your bulbs at all. Enjoy planting your bulbs, it can be back breaking but so worth it!

If yr new to the garden it's an idea to leave it for a yr to see what comes up. I agree with the others about the mushrooms you might be able to eat them!!

There have been loads of mushrooms this year - I would remove them as you have done and just see what happens next year. I don't think the mushrooms would damage the bulbs. If you remove any more, you should remove them carefully - ie pick them (I do it by hand with gloves on) and try not to damage them so that spores aren't released.
