Have I killed my money plant?

First comes the disclaimer, I am a COMPLETE dullard when it comes to any form of gardening or plant care. Blush

I have a lovely money plant which was a gift from dear friends and to which I'm very attached. It's been outside for a few weeks and has been delighted by this, growing like mad but not only do I think it's got REALLY waterlogged over the past couple of days but we had a frost last night.

It's very droopy which could be to do with the fact that it desperately needs repotting. There also seems to be water seeping out of the leaves.

What do I do? Please help me, I'd be gutted if it died. I know it needs repotting so can any wise wonder tell me if it needs special compost and how best to support the very bendy branches?

Thanks in advance,

x

No I think your money plant has just been listening to the spending review.

Poor thing Sad

Seriously, frost and bulgy leaved plants don't mix - I think you want to bring it in.

Thank you. It is in, it's now languishing in the bath as I'm trying to warm it up and prop it up at the same time. I'm going to re-pot it and give it some support (physical rather than psychological)and just keep my fingers crossed...

The droopy bits may be the bits that froze and they will die. However, it will regrow from the unfrozen bits. Do not overwater it in the winter and it needs to be somewhere very light. The switch from outdoors to indoors may cause it to drop all it's leaves bit have faith and give it time.

Two of mine that were growing fantastically well in the greenhouse got frozen too and are looking very sad.

Thank you so much. It was definitely waterlogged as well so I've drained it and will ensure it gets lots of light. Should I prune it?

A week on it doesn't appear to be completely dead so I will keep the faith!

Thanks again.

...and don't forget to feed it. All plants in pots do need to be fed regularly otherwise they eat up all the goodness in the soil and there's nothing left. Sounds like you've had a lot of good advice above so hope it works!

I'd give it a light prune and use bits as cuttings for new plants, just in case.
