Emptying / Filling in Pond

We have a small pond in our new garden and do not wish to retain it. We have very little spare time so I was sondering if we could shorten the effort/time required by puncturing the lining in order to empty it - would this work.

DH doesn't seem to have a day off, I have an injured shoulder/back so I can't bucket it and we don't have a pump.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

It might work but it may well flood the garden. Depends how big it is. Do you know anyone with a Pondvac? We have one and have used it to empty ponds very quickly.

even if you empty the water there it will go boggy again. we punctured the bottom of ours with the garden fork lots of time then put bricks/large stones right at the bottom to try and stop the plants sitting in water the whole time

we then put topsoil on but it is still rather boggy - it has worked ok though as we have planted marsh plants and pond edging plants

ours was very small though so it may be a different situation with a larger pond
