Need some advice please. DD has completed first draft and submitted to teacher for feedback. Feedback took an eternity, had to be chased several times, and when it came was quite odd and disjointed. DD then ran her first draft through AI and asked for feedback - it was exactly the same as that given by the teacher.

DD is reluctant to incorporate the feedback into her final draft. Several of her friends have checked and their feedback also appears to be AI generated. If they incorporate the feedback will this compromise the integrity of their work? Will it appear to the examiners that they have used AI?

Not wanting to cause trouble for the teacher but need to get my head around this.

“All submitted work must be the student’s own”. This is from
JCQ guidance, using AI could constitute malpractice. I would email the teacher and Exams Officer and ask for clarity.

Is the teacher who did the feedback the head of department? If not I’d go to the head of department for advice. If they are then is there a head of 6th form you could talk to? I’d be trying to get to the bottom of this and I would say you were the one who ran it through AI to see the results because you were concerned about the feedback your DD had received. This needs sorting now before it turns into a much bigger issue-at this moment it could just be the teacher didn’t leave enough time for feedback to be done.

What sort of feedback has been given? My understanding is that only very limited feedback can be given, so if the AI feedback is fairly generic then there is no particular issues in following it. (And it may well be that the teacher has used AI to speed up their job, but it doesn't mean they haven't reviewed and agreed with what it came up with).

If it's saying literally "you need to rewrite paragraph 3 to include points on x, y and z, or suggesting alternative content, it's probably a bad idea to follow it.
