Are any of your teenagers NOT going to university?

I was just interested in hearing other people's situations and what their teens are up to now after completing their A-levels, BTEC, T-levels? My daughter decided over a year ago that she didn't want to go to uni but had applied for a college course months ago in a different field to her A-levels and starts in September, which is great and already has a work placement associated with said course.

Sadly she did fail her A-levels and she was and is disappointed in that but glad she has other options.

There are a lot of teenagers that will be starting a new chapter in their lives in a few months but wondered about those where the path differs from those going to university.

Uni isn't everything. I work in a large supermarket and a lot of the graduates work here for years as they can't find a job in the area they wish to work in. They then end up doing manager training at the supermarket. So all the debt they got at uni was for nothing.
Only 1 of my 4 went. The others didn't do A levels either just went to college to do vocational courses they are doing really well for themselves now in their mid 20s.

My 18 year old has no interest in uni. She's very happy with her apprenticeship results, and is so done with the studying side. She tried level 4 work as part of her apprenticeship for about a month and feels it's really not for her. She went to a local recruitment event, spoke to someone from the council, and is signed up for a work trial hopefully into work programme in her area. It's one of those programmes open to all young people, but more aimed at disabled young adults like my daughter and others who are at a higher risk of not being in education or work post-18.

My oldest also had no interest in uni post-college, he only gained an interest after a year of working because he found a sponsored cadetship (similar to higher or degree apprenticeship depending on level) that is very unlikely the typical uni experience, he gets paid for it, and spends months working at sea & traveling. He started it just before he turned 20 and is happy with it most of the time.

DS didnt know what he wanted to do, but did know he didn't want to go to uni. He's moving to London to live with his dad and take life from there.

I'm going to miss him.
