Art A Level or not?

DD scored 19-20 for each GCSE Art NEA AO, which I understand will be a likely 8. What does that mean she needs to improve on for A Level Art?

She is planning on taking A Levels in Maths, FM, Physics & Art with a view to Architecture or Engineering at Uni.

It's likely she'll get a 9 in another subject so I'm wondering if she should do that for A Level instead of Art.

She worked really hard for Art GCSE and I've heard A Level Art is even tougher.

Any advice out there gratefully received.

Every architect I know can draw! I think Bath like Art A level for architecture and it’s a help everywhere. Engineering - they won’t mind. Geography is good in addition to physics and maths for environmental engineering. Art A level has so many options you can slant it towards architecture. Product design is good for some engineering but not necessarily for civil and structural. Spatial understanding of 3D matters for nearly all design though.

Just wanted to add, Art teaching really matters. My DD got a B at GCSE, but the teaching was more about experimenting. Useless. She got an A at A level. Great teacher who really knew what was required and taught! Don’t take Art A level unless there is first class teaching and results are outstanding, Dc must be prepared to work hard too and yes, portfolios are going to be required so plan in advance.
