Is becoming a personal trainer worth it?

I’m looking to go back to work after nearly a decade off with 4 children.
I’m just wondering if this could suit me, I’m very active and healthy and would consider specialising in older ladies as I’m in my early 40s.
I spend a few hours a day exercising and I’m very conscious about what I eat and so I’d say I’m passionate about fitness and keep at size 6.
I have studied nutrition and have been looking into this for a while.

I can’t answer to whether it’s a good step financially- that will boil down to your location and how good you are at marketing.

As a client I would love a trainer closer to my age/ ideally someone with extremely good knowledge on pelvic health, & fitness training for middle aged women. However honestly I might find a very skinny woman off-putting depending on general attitude re: weight. You may be very short and therefore a healthy BMI, but a size 6 in the UK is usually underweight and I would rather train with someone who trained for strength, flexibility and cardio health. Of course, other people may feel very differently!

If anyone’s still following this thread, it’s worth mentioning that the qualification path is clear and well-structured. I went with The Fitness Group(^https://www.thefitnessgrp.co.uk/^) because they’re accredited by Active IQ and CIMSPA, and their tutor support is available daily. I completed the Level 3 PT Course and even received guidance on finding my first clients in the gym.

Would you for a gym or do it on your own? The further you’ll get a salary and find yourself cleaning equipment between clients (if they put any your way), the latter you have to find clients yourself, and may need to pay for a studio space or gym access. I think the turner is safer so check out your local gym and perhaps ask the trainers there? Going out in your own will take a while to build up your business. Also be aware that mornings and after work hours are the most popular.
