Psychology degree, feeling lost

I’m currently doing research to apply to unis for psychology but I’m finding myself feeling disheartened with some of the universities I want to go requiring a b in science at GCSE (I only have a D due to be a rebel adolescent - a big regret) I’m 29 F, Currently doing my access course in medical science with health psychology. I also have 120 ucas points from a diploma in fashion retail but I know they won’t really take that into consideration, I know it’s a very popular degree choice and some jobs can require further education etc, but was just wondering if anyone has done and/or currently doing a degree is psych, and what universities are considered to have good courses and any to avoid?

Have you looked at Liverpool?

Hi, I used to be Lead on Access to HE Diploma. Your science units on Access (L3 should) negate need for GCSE (L2). Often unis want all credits to be at Distinction and Merit level - look at the tariff calculator on UCAS website

Brill! Started panicking reading the entry requirements, it says on some uni sites I need, for example, 36 distinctions and 9 merits and then underneath it says - other requirements, GCSE maths grade 6/B so wasn’t sure if I needed both? Will have a look at the tariff calculator aswell thankyou

OP, universities tend to like Access students - you're demonstrating your commitment and conviction by undertaking such an intense course, which Access, is! Worth speaking to admissions departments and doing lots of research - look at the 'contextual offer' the universities make - there are 35k + courses to apply for via UCAS.
Good luck!

Are you sure you need a science GCSE? When I did my psy degree I had 4 ALevels in English, English,Law and Sociology and a D in GCSE physics so got put on the BA course. Others with science A Levels got put on the BSc course.
It was exactly the same course and when I chose my electives they were all science based; neuropsy, abnormal psy, psychopharmacology etc. still ended up with a BA!
Just wondering if they have BSc and BA routes and you are just looking at BSc

Make sure you look for bps accredited courses otherwise your options will be limited once you graduate.
