Parents education on UCAS application

Clueless888 · 17/06/2024 19:07

Hello

I am trying to help my son complete his UCAS application form and one of the questions was:

Does any of your parents have a higher education qualification, such as degree, diploma, or certificate of higher education?

I did an apprenticeship, which is a level 2 diploma I believe. So I should answer yes to this question?

I just wanted to check, as this is the first time I’m having to complete this form.

Many thanks

I think you answer no, as Higher Ed is level 4 and above

IsabelleHuppert · 17/06/2024 19:11

As a pp said, answer ‘no’.

Why is parents' education to UCAS?

Why is parents' education to UCAS?

Assume contextual offers

It’s a no.
Higher education is level 4 plus.

It is for widening participation monitoring, to keep track off how many students are “first in family” to go to university

Clueless888 · 17/06/2024 19:25

I just saw the word diploma, and got confused.

Thank you all x

I can see why you would want to check. I had no idea about which level was which until I worked at a university! All of the forms and terminology are confusing and we just want to get it right for our DC, good luck! 😊

I help students with ucas then when it was my own dd’s form felt anxious even though I know the answers!
