My 16 year old dd has been out of school this term. She sat her GCSEs in the summer and got decent results bearing in mind poor health/anxiety/poor attendance in Years 10 and 11. She didn't quite get the grades for her current school and alternatives haven't worked out.

She is keen to go back but I realise it's too late in the year to start A levels. I was wondering if anyone knows of any colleges/courses that have a January start?

We are in NW London so could travel into London or somewhere in Herts might work too.

Not aware so far. Try websites of local colleges and Central London colleges. DD can also go for part time job especially during this season or volunteer in charity. Can also improve her grades in core subjects by attempting in June.

You may find some adult education courses in the evening at local schools / colleges, e.g. a language course.
You could also try just getting some unpaid work experience?
Is the aim to go back and do A levels from September?
An apprenticeship?

Try the NCS website.
I was there earlier today looking for 16 to 18 apprenticeships..unfortunately not many where I live

She may not eligible for funding for subsidised Adult Ed courses, most are from 19. Short courses (moocs) via Futurelearn or openlearn may be worth a look and she could explore what interests her.

Tell me about it! Not even funded for a 'y14' child as not 19 at start of academic year ...

@TeenDivided
A bit of a silly question.
If I am looking for an apprenticeship for my DD who has completed GCSE should I look for those that say level 3(A level).
I cannot tell if apprenticeship level: advanced, level 3(A level) means they should have achieved A level already or whether at the end of apprenticeship, it is equivalent to an A level.

Level 3 (or even starting at Level 2) would be what you want. Level 3 is 'A level equivalent' so suitable for someone who has passed their GCSEs inc English & Maths.
