A levels choices...Maths, Physics and Film Studies. What might they lead to??

DS2 is doing an induction week at his chosen 6th form.
He was until very recently wanting to study Maths, Physics and Chemistry but has decided Chem is not for him (too hard).
Obviously, he gets to choose what he wants to study but Film Studies was a bit of a curveball!

What sort of degree might these choices lead to??
He isn’t sure what kind of degree (if any!) he wants to do.
He’s a bright boy, at a grammar, but following GCSEs I feel like he’s had enough of school!

I did maths, physics and drama and became a psychologist

I think the point perpetual is that it doesn't throw up all that many routes and accountancy is always there!

I just put in DS's A levels : it came back with 19 degree subjects, and accountancy was there . It didn't suggest economics , which he has an A* in , and chose to study at uni ...

DS1 , however, didn't get accountancy suggested , with A level in business...

It must have quite odd algorithms.

True but that's true of a huge number of degrees! It's pretty unlikely someone studying English, French and music wants to be an accountant...

You’d be surprised. I started with English, history and French ( subsequently switched to geography), did history for my undergrad and then did chartered accountancy. There were a lot of people with arts & language degrees in my start group.

I know people do. It's just probably not an aim for an undegrad degree. It is oddly emphasised by the informed choices algorithm

Oh I see! Sorry- I totally misread this. I thought it was suggesting it as a job not as a degree. In that case I agree and accountancy degree basically a waste of time/ won’t help you get a job in Big 4.

DS1 does work for one of the Big 4 and did a Chem Eng degree. He’ll be sitting his final Chartered Accountancy exams in a couple of weeks.

Strangely, I’ve bumped into 2 people whose DCs studied or are going to study Film Studies at A level. And one whose daughter is off to study it at Uni in September. Her mum said that her daughter’s really interested in it and that’s the most important thing. Very true.
