and if so, what's the best way of going about it?
My son (16) had his work stolen out of his rucksack on the bus home from college on his second day there (back in September). He found out who had stolen it and told the boy that he wanted it back the next day otherwise he would take his clothes off him (yes, I know, not the best way of dealing with it!).
The next day, the boy didn't give him his work back and so they had a bit of a tousle (police's words, not mine) that resulted in my son getting kicked in the balls, which lead him to punch the boy in the face.
The boy ran off and told a teacher, and my son got suspended for a week for fighting and the other boy's dad called the police and reported my son for assault. The other boy wasn't suspended and was telling people that his dad was going to get my son expelled.
The police looked into it and say that the CCTV shows the other boy actually started the fight. So my son was suspended for a week on the word of a thief and a liar.
I would like to complain to the college, but I'm not a confrontational person and it fills me with dread. Does anyone have any advice please? I think that their policy is wrong and that both boys should have been suspended while they looked into it. Why didn't they check their own CCTV for instance?
