DD meant to be starting A-Levels course tomorrow, but they still haven’t accepted her

Having a bit of a nightmare trying to sort out DDs application to college.

She got her GCSE results last week (all great grades, so no issue there), and has applied to do two A-Levels at high school, and one at the local college.

The process to be accepted for the school 6th form was easy. But having huge difficulty with the college. First, couldn’t log into the portal to upload results, so I emailed them to admissions. Got a confused reply from someone assuming I had made a mistake in emailing them. I eventually managed to log in and do it properly on Monday (person at reception said many had experienced difficulties). Despite calling daily and emailing three times, she still hasn’t been given an offer.

Latest is I’m waiting for a phone call today.

I am tearing my hair out here - what else can I do? I am concerned she may lose a place because of this.

Can you physically go there with the results? I know somebody who did exactly that and it was all sorted out in the office then and there.

Yes, I’m also thinking this might have to be my next move. I won’t hold my breath for this phone all to happen. Given my emails are not being replied to.

That's unusual. How on earth is doing A levels across 2 establishments going to work? (Sorry, unhelpful answer to your question.)

Has your DD actually done anything?

i would go, with my DD, to the college. In person. They will be in

Also wondering this. I am guessing you have consulted timetables and there wasn’t an option to do all three in the same place.

I also think that being registered for post-16 education across two establishments might be causing the issue here, unless she's registered for the final A-level as an evening course/adult education. Hope you can sort it out OP.

I'm amazed she's managed to enrol at her school with just 2 A levels. Our local school says it cannot accept anyone with less than 3, because they cannot apply for funding unless the c

Child has a full time offer

This sort of arrangement is usually sorted between the two schools not by the family. Studying one subject somewhere else requires a dual registration and some sort of agreement between the two schools/colleges with regards to funding/payment. Unless it’s an adult education course where you are paying for it privately then it’s more complicated than you think. The college can’t claim any funding for a student doing just one subject so the school that she is doing the other two with will need to make an arrangement with the college to pay them a portion of the funding that they receive for her if she is registered as a full time student with them. Schools would normally sort the admissions and exam results stuff too.
