So sorry to those who are still fighting for places. I'm sure things will come right in the end.

DD has booked her accommodation at UEA, we've had a boozy lunch to celebrate, and then she wanted to hit IKEA. To be fair, we hadn't started buying, so probably need to get a move on. Looks like move in day is 18 September!!

Zott · 18/08/2022 18:57

Very sorry to hear that @Benjispruce4 .

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 19:00

Yes it was her last RG chance. Now waiting on Leeds Trinity and York St John.

singingstones · 18/08/2022 19:11

How is she feeling about it Benji, is she considering retaking or is she set on going this year?

@ParvuliThankYouDebbie I can definitely recommend Chichester. DD looked round it three times and firmed it and got accepted this morning. She is thrilled. She felt it was such a friendly Uni compared to others she'd looked round and it seemed it would be the perfect choice pastorally for her too as all the tutors and reception staff were so friendly and helpful. Is your DD hoping to do Dance or drama or a sport?

It’s music. She’s got the audition at 1pm tomorrow. We’re in the grip of the rail strike here, from today til Saturday but that will severely impact travel tomorrow and Sunday. Luckily DH is able to take the day off to drive her tomorrow and Cardiff have confirmed they will hold her place til next week so we can visit early in the week by train (ten hour round trip by car otherwise). However, dsPiet what everyone tells her she is petrified of live auditions. In fact I’ve only just discovered today that was one of her criteria for dropping some unis first time round. She’s now agreeing that both Chichester and Cardiff would bother suit her better, course wise, than RH……..maybe this will all be for the best.

CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee · 18/08/2022 19:24

What instrument @ParvuliThankYouDebbie ?

Set on going this year. Wants the uni experience. Her friends are here now in the garden having a nice time. I think we will park it tonight and see what tomorrow brings. Hard having. DD who went to Durham and had Oxford interview and another struggling to get in somewhere.
Thanks all so much for help and support it means a lot .

Northumberlandlass · 18/08/2022 19:34

Oh @Benjispruce4 I’m sorry today has been so difficult. I hope it gets sorted soon.

HarrietDVane · 18/08/2022 19:35

So sorry @Benjispruce4 - it sounds like you've had a really awful time.

Fruitygal · 18/08/2022 19:38

@Benjispruce4 sorry this is happening to you and your DD. We have done this three times and neither of the other two were straightforward but they loved their unis and have great jobs

Alsoplayspiccolo · 18/08/2022 19:41

Oh, Benjispruce, what a difficult, stressful day you’ve had.
According to comments on WIWIKAU, more clearing places should appear tomorrow, when people reject their clearing places in preference to another, so please don’t give up hope. You have time to sleep on it, reflect on what’s best for DD and start again tomorrow with a calmer head. Xx

Zott · 18/08/2022 19:46

Hang in there @Benjispruce4 , quite right to park it, stiff drink and see what frees up tomorrow.

Isthisjustnormal · 18/08/2022 19:50

Oh @Benjispruce4 how frustrating. Glad she’s got mates round and Being able to have fun with them. How are you holding up? You must be shattered!

good luck for Dd for tomorrow @ParvuliThankYouDebbie

Ds is off our with mates, dd has gone sailing so Dh and I are chilling and planning to fall asleep on the sofa!!!

crazycrofter · 18/08/2022 20:01

So sorry to hear about Sheffield @Benjispruce4 . It will all come together and I'm sure she'll have a blast wherever she goes. And she may well do better somewhere non-RG. I was trying to persuade dd to go for a non-RG, because for clinical Psychology the uni doesn't matter but you need a first. I can't help feeling it must be slightly easier to get a first if you're among lower A Level performers - big fish small pond thing. Good luck for tomorrow! Has she considered Leicester? They're asking for CCC. I went there so I'm biased but it's a lovely uni and reasonably placed in the league tables. Is she absolutely set on being near Leeds?

lljkk · 18/08/2022 20:08

DS was predicted ABB & got A + 2x Astar.
Such a monkey that boy (young man actually).
Makes me wonder what courses he might have applied for he if had been predicted A + 2x Astar.
Even funnier is the teacher who told us a few months ago that he had never seen anyone turn around their grades so much (I think at one point in yr12 DS was internally being predicted CCD).
Anyway, am just grateful today was straightforward.
And I hope DS enjoys Uni !!

Hang in there everyone. They are all on their own paths to likely success.

cheninblanc · 18/08/2022 20:23

My daughters offer still says waiting! No rejection or confirmation. I'm going to email my mp tmrw if we've had nothing either way by lunch time, not fair to make her wait all weekend either way

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 20:35

Thanks @Isthisjustnormal and everyone. I’m ok, absolutely shattered. Just glad she’s having fun with friends . She rang Leeds Trinity and they said in the spot that they’d have her(U of Leeds was one of her offers) so that’s one in the hand. Will see what tomorrow brings.

BlueMarigold · 18/08/2022 20:39

She went for Aitken :)

Appuskidu · 18/08/2022 20:41

BlueMarigold · 18/08/2022 20:39

She went for Aitken :)

I’m a bit worried that DD’s slot isn’t until the weekend-what if there is nothing left?!

Alsoplayspiccolo · 18/08/2022 20:42

DD put Aitken as one of her original choices, Blue.
Her DSA has recommended that she needs an en suite room, so she may not go for it now.

How did the whole process work, once your DD got her time slot?

Fonty · 18/08/2022 20:45

@Benjispruce4 hang on in there. Sounds like there will definitely be some movement tomorrow. A colleague of mine (much younger!) went to York St John & had a fabulous time and got a good degree from there. Hope your DD can enjoy herself tonight with her friends.

Zott · 18/08/2022 20:47

@cheninblanc that’s very poor, awful leaving you and your DD in limbo. Fingers crossed it is resolved first thing tomorrow.

BlueMarigold · 18/08/2022 20:48

She couldn’t log in earlier so just did it. Pick a room and press book room. Then you have to pay for it. It seemed easy.

There wasn’t a lot of choice. Aitken seems nice. It says the rooms are newly refurbished and you get your own sink.

Metalworks had lots of rooms but it was slightly too pricey

OublietteBravo · 18/08/2022 20:54

Is anyone else feeling wiped out? I definitely am (and DD got the grades to get into her first choice). I don’t remember my own A-level results being this stressful.

Benjispruce4 · 18/08/2022 20:56

@cheninblanc thats awful! I really hope it pays off and she gets confirmation in the morning. 🤞🏻
It’s really hard when things aren’t going to plan and everyone else is (rightly) celebrating. 💐
